On Thursday went with the family to see the movie Hancock. I had read some of the reviews and the critics hated it. Apparently the twist in the middle was too unbelievable and did not add to the plot. As much as I agree with critics on films, I made up my mind when I saw the first preview for Hancock that I wanted to see it.
Spoiler Alert
My vote. 21/2 Glamour Stars
Why do you ask? Who knew Charlize Theron would be his immortal beloved, that could only be loved from afar. Who knew love took away powers? (Well we all do. I was in love once and could not concentrate on anything but that person and felt I was solely living to make him happy.) I think without the twist in the film the movie would have been completely useless. I will admit I have a serious crush on Will Smith, but I still think he did a good job in the movie. ( I felt he did a great job in I Am Legend.) Jason Bateman was also funny as the warm hearted public relations guy, but I felt anyone could have played that role.
Although I enjoyed my experience with the film I don’t need to see a part two to Hancock and I don’t have to know his real name or if he is truly from another planet. Notice I have yet to mention the whole superpowers aspect. I actually felt that was the weakest part of the film. Watching Hancock fly over the 110 Freeway or throw a fat French kid in the air was just boring and expected. And being a booze loving superhero is even more of a cliché.
Bottom line:
Wait for the DVD.
Let me know how you felt about Hancock.

It wasn’t terrible, but I thought Hancock would be all action. Wrong. I wasn’t expecting Hancock to have such an emotional element to it. It was pretty uneven so it left me questioning a lot of things. So their love will end and remain platonic because the world needs a superhero, and she wants complacency with a mortal that will only last 40 more years or so until until he dies? Poppycock. Hancock’s alcoholism didn’t seem like it stemmed from his unwillingness to be a superhero. It seemed like it was caused by his loneliness. All he wanted to find was love. And what did his soul mate do? Leave him because society’s disapproval of their relationship ultimately took its toll. It sends a lot of mixed messages out there.
The ending was tied in a nice tacky bow. It just didn’t seem plausible to me.
Yeah it is summertime, emotion is not really popular now. You need to wait until fall for emotion, but this movie was a nice break form the completely unemotional wanted. Yes the world needs superheroes, and to be shown people can do right, because they have proven to be hopeless on their own. I think after 3000 years of watching your main get beaten and burned you will want some complacency and know you can be with someone and watch at least them grow old. Poppycock!!!!!! Well what is the saying if you love someone so much you have to know when to let them go. Yes the ending was in a nice bow but it ended in NYC. Can you think of a better ending than that
