Scrolling around the internet I find my dream apartment in NYC.  Apparently, former Vogue intern and current hockey player Sean Avery has put his chelsea condo up for sale for a whopping $1,695,000 at 1,123 square feet it’s a 2 bed, 2 bath.  I even like the blue on the walls, and the openness of the windows.  No pictures of the closet.  The decorator did an awesome job.  I really want my next place to look like this.  I just need a man who understands I need a second home in NYC, you know, for all my school breaks.

Yes, I am back. GlamourGirlNow is in it 3rd transformation. I figure new city, new school, new life, new start for the Glamour Girl.

Some changes:

1. No more health or fitness. I started another website that will cover workouts, recipes, and healthy living and/or me trying to lose some pounds.

2. Also, the Dating Warrior experiment ended (with some positive results for Ms. Green) or just kind of phased out. I think towards the end of summer last year I got so busy with other things I just couldn’t concentrate on the dating. Now that I am in Boston I want to get out there a little more and see what the northeast fish are like.

3. Oh yeah, I moved. I am in Boston going to Grad school, excuse me, Business School. I am enrolled in a school known for entrepreneurship and that is definitely what my concentration is in: marketing, entrepreneurship, and global studies. (Yes, I still consider myself a citizen of the world.) I will be bringing you some snippets about business school and what I learn through my courses, school, professors, and classmates. I will admit at this stage, I have learned tantissimo about business.

4. Fashion, It is always about the fashion darling. I stayed away from the Vogue and concentrated on the Harvard Business Review only to realize I still need the Vogue. I really love fashion, the artistry, the choice, the definition, the expression, and everything fashion. I am definitely bringing back the Power Woman and latest luxury wear. I also believe at this stage in the game clothes should express self-confidence.  I will try to mix it up with interviews from up and coming designers and the fashionista on the street. I just need that camera.

5. Lifestyle, will go beyond fashion as luxury goods but will bring in other key aspects I learn about i.e. technology, cars, resorts, conferences, and to keep it a little bohemian festivals. It’s all the information you want to know as a Power Woman on the rise.

6.Finally: GlamourGirlBoston. This city has so much going on it’s Wicked Awesome. I always considered Boston the east coast San Francisco (I am a Cali girl.) I’m looking forward to sharing the gems I find throughout the restaurant from new restaurants and bars, fashion sales and boutiques, and events (there is always an event.)

Spring is here.  I know on the west coast the seasons changing only meant the difference between a thin strapped  sandal versus a very thin strapped sandal, but in the East Coast it means my heavy jackets are hung up and my winter boots have disappeared.  In honor of spring I have picked out 4 outfits to fit every occasion: work, fun evening with the girls, cocktail, and weekend.  Ferretti used pastel purple as her inspiration, and the softness of the color and fabric will make you forget about being one of the boys and upping your feminine side. As a reminder, we may not be able to afford all these looks now, but we can definitely draw inspiration from them.

The holiday season is upon us, yet again.  We spend most of the year purchasing gifts, presents, and necessities on a weekly basis, but the holidays allow us to purchase the big ticket items we have been talking about all year long.  Below is a list of basic items for the lovers of the concrete jungle. (The condo is a long shot, but I know what I want and I know what I need to save up for.)

Enjoy

calvin-kleinI didn’t even realize the huge sale was happening this weekend, but after Ms. Purple told me she bought two pairs of shoes online, I did some research and  it appears Nordstrom’s is giving greater discounts than in previous sales.  I am shopper ready.  I have my items (work wear) I want to buy Calvin Klein Sheath Dress and BCBGeneration Peep Toe Booties (in black) pictured below, a date at the nail shop, and energy drinks to get me through the day.  Check out  shop.nordstrom.com.

couture-fall-09-2

Paris recently showed their Fall 2009 Haute Couture shows and hands down Christian Dior was my favorite.  Classic 1940s feel with bright colors and fabulous detailing.  Dior showed breathtaking jackets that were matched with undergarments, and large richly colored (and mostly feathered) hats were matched with equally bright suits made for the woman who is confident and in-charge.  Valentino presented clothes filled with lace and feathers, but the shoes were more memorable than the clothes themselves.  Jean-Paul Gaultier showed many suits I would  place under work wear for the modern CEO, and Armani Prive sent one gorgeous gown after another down the runway.  Major disappointment this season: Elie Saab, an endless number of white dresses, nothing too creative, but no doubt they will be seen on many red carpets.

Like most women I am on the quest  for the perfect lashes.  Unfortunately, I wasn’t born with long voluminous lashes like my father so I have to create them.  I still adore Dior mascara but spending $24 for mascara in this economy does not always feel good.  I headed to my local drug store to see what I can find.  Maybelline’s Lash Stiletto immediately stood out to me.  The product packaging is perfect.  Long, sleek, and black.  And what girl wouldn’t enjoy eyelashes that were long and sexy like a stiletto?  I was sold.

I agreed to use the product for one week.  Ultimately, I was disappointed with Maybelline’s Lash Stiletto mascara.  It separated my lashes to the point that I looked like I hardly had lashes, and my lashes did not look longer at all.  My eyes did not appear to have any mascara on no matter how many coats I put applied.  The product might work better for eyelashes that are already full and long, but again it hardly looks like mascara is on.

Final say: Don’t waste your money or time.  Stick with Maybelline’s Great Lash for a few bucks less.

I am saving my money for a new laptop and a new digital camera.  Oh yeah, and for just day to day living.  But I still crave luxury good items.  Hmm, maybe I can sneak them in my budget somehow.

For the 1st edition of If I WORE A Rich Girl I have included 3 pieces that I would definitely turn into statement pieces during the hot summer months.  I want the large Tom Ford “Marcella”" sunglasses, my Tiffany key pendant, and my large tote Chanel bag.  All this for almost $4000.

Maybe I should title this piece my post recession look.

GMAT BooksThese are the GMAT books I have purchased through the past couple of years and I probably used about 25% of them. (There are about 5 to 10 books and folders missing from this picture.)  Why do I have so many books?  I think it is because I am always trying to find something that speaks my math language or gives me a better shortcut.  Oh yeah, I also have a slight shopping addiction.

I have curtailed my GMAT shopping addiction and invested in shoes, but Now I am ready to head back to the GMAT.  Those who have been following me know the GMAT has been a struggle beyond my wildest dreams.  I don’t remember stressing over a test so much.  The SAT/ACT test were a breeze (or I just didn’t place the value my whole high school education on a test) but for some reason the GMAT has become the Mt. Kilimanjaro of tests for me.  The last time I took it I got a decent score, but not an NYU score.  I thought I would take it again a month later, but I just couldn’t pick up the book.  When you see a number you weren’t aiming for it just adds to the failure pile.  Believe me my failure pile has toppled over and I just wanted to work on a success pile.  This website, volunteer work, new job (paycheck) are all successes, but the GMAT????????

Honestly, there hasn’t been a day since my last test that I haven’t thought about the GMAT.  At this point I may not get into NYU but I owe it to myself to go for my best score, and that is all.  I am okay if I end up in an evening program or a truly unknown small school.  On my resume it would still read MBA.

My next step is to come up with a training (study) schedule for the next 3 months.  Why 3 months, because after 3 months my ADD truly kicks in and I need to move onto other battles.  I am looking for suggestions for studying.  I just want a couple of hours a night and to take a practice test every other week.  Also, if you can come up with your top GMAT study book or tricks of the trade I would appreciate it.  I am not looking for a course right now, although a great tutor would be appreciated (not one who texts in the middle of a session making plans for a Friday night and still wants to get paid.)

Tomorrow I will work on my study schedule for the next three months.
